In the bad old days, using a computer was difficult because everything was done from typing a command at a prompt on a black (or blue or green) field and hoping you didn’t mistype a single letter. With the Graphic User Interface, things became both more colorful and easier. Icons or visual objects on your screen could be manipulated with your mouse to make changes to the file or folder.

Drag and Drop became a great new way to work. This demonstration shows the basic technique.
